Trackost
Inventory and cost-of-goods software platform for handmade makers, calculating live per-unit production costs across raw materials, batches, and sales channels.
About Trackost
Trackost is an inventory and cost-of-goods-sold software platform built specifically for artisan makers and craft businesses. Small workshops often struggle to keep up with changing material expenses, differing marketplace fees, and outdated spreadsheets. Trackost connects raw material purchases, recipe bills of materials, and production batches directly to finished orders, revealing true net profit on every item sold.
The system uses automated weighted-average costing. Whenever you log a new material invoice, unit costs re-average immediately across all associated recipes. The software factors in hands-on labor time, studio overhead, and packaging supplies so makers understand their exact floor cost before setting wholesale or retail pricing. Batch tracking monitors work-in-progress inventory and curing dates, snapshotting expenses at assembly.
Multi-channel commerce sync keeps sales figures accurate without manual input. Trackost pulls order activity and transaction fees directly from Shopify, Etsy, and Faire. By deducting payment processing and channel cuts alongside true production costs, the dashboard instantly highlights which products generate real earnings and which bestsellers are slipping underwater.
To simplify business operations, Trackost includes 17 financial reports, including an accountant-ready Schedule C worksheet for seasonal tax filing. Workspaces can export all catalogs, purchase histories, and inventory figures to CSV files anytime. Teams can also take advantage of free white-glove onboarding to migrate old spreadsheet records into the system smoothly.

Frequently asked questions
Who is Trackost for?
Handmade makers who turn raw materials into products, such as soap, candles, cosmetics, jewelry and food gifts, and sell them online, at markets or wholesale. It is not built for resellers or dropshippers with no production.
How do I move my data from a spreadsheet or Craftybase?
Request the free white-glove migration from the Migration page in Settings. You are emailed to arrange the move, send your spreadsheet or Craftybase CSV exports, and your materials, products, recipes and opening stock are loaded for you.
Do I need to know accounting?
No. You record purchases, batches and sales; the weighted-average and COGS math runs underneath. Reports, including a Schedule C COGS worksheet, export to CSV for your accountant. Trackost is not tax or accounting advice.
Can businesses try Trackost without entering billing details?
Yes, new accounts receive a 14-day free trial without a credit card, and the site offers a free public in-browser pricing calculator requiring no account.
What happens to workshop data if a subscription is cancelled?
Data is never deleted automatically upon cancellation, and all records remain exportable to CSV at any time.
